Months after the governorship primary election that resulted in the party’s governorship candidate Sheriff Oborevwori, the people’s democratic party in Delta State still appears to be in the midst of a storm.
Supporters of the PDP governorship candidate, in Delta State, as well as party faithful have been advised to remain focused following the malicious suit filed against the party and the candidate by a former governorship candidate Aghwarianovwe Ikie.
In a statement, the Delta PDP Campaign Council spokesperson, ,Fred Oghenesivbe alleged that the former governorship aspirant who scored zero vote at the governorship primaries in May last year, is trying to use the judiciary to achieve the impossible.
He noted that Mr Ikie is fully based in the United Kingdom where he has been practicing law, adding that the Plaintiff is not known to be an active player in the internal politics of the PDP.
Mr. Oghenesivbe further posited that Mr. Ikie is not a popular politician in Delta State, saying that his mission is to cause confusion in the party.
OBI NOT IN TALKS WITH ATIKU
We have been inundated with enquiries about the claim of an on-going discussion between our Presidential ticket and the camp of PDP’s Presidential Candidate, Atiku Abubakar.
For emphasis, we wish to repeat, as we have said all day, that the claim is totally false and baseless. We are not in any talks with Atiku or anyone else with a view to stepping down from a race in which we are the frontrunner. Peter Obi is in the contest to win in consonance with the aspiration of majority of Nigerians who desire a New Nigeria devoid of lies, corruption and selfish scheming.
