Military's mass abortion program untrue-Irabor

 

The Nigeria’s chief of Defense staff has rubbished claims by an international news wire Regency that the Nigerian military Run a secret Mass abortion program in the war on Boko Haram.

The news reporter alleged that since 2013 the military has ended at least 10 000 pregnancies among women and girls many of who had been kidnapped and raped by Islamic militants.

The chief of Defense Staff also spoke about the military successes against terrorism, banditry, kidnapping all theft and other forms of
threats to National Security.

General Lucky Irabor was a guest at the 61st session of the ministerial briefing organised by the presidential Communications team.

He talked about the remarkable progress the armed forces have recorded
in dealing with various security threats in different regions of the country particularly how kinetic and non-kinetic approach has contributed to restoration of peace and stability.

The chief of Defense staff was confronted at the event with an allegation made by Reuters, an international news wire agency that the Army ran a secret systematic and illegal Mass abortion program in the country’s North East since 2013.

General Irabor said “what the allusions they made is news to me, it never occurred, I never saw anything like that.

The activities of the military in the Northeast and other theaters of operation have always been heavily scrutinised by the Civil Society
and media both domestic and International.

In 2020, the role the military played in breaking the resistance of the EndSars protest also put it under the spotlight of global attention, but General Irabor insists a group of Nigerians are more interested in deliberately propagating misinformation about the Armed Forces.

The chief of Army staff admits that the military and security agencies are constantly under pressure from politicians and criminal elements to compromise the Integrity of elections in the country. He says the boots on the ground before, during and after the elections have been sufficiently trained to professionally discharge their duties.

General Irabor said so far more than 300,000 people have been freed from Boko Haram captivity, also more than 1,500 repentance Boko Haram members have been reintegrated into the society.

He credits ongoing military operations in the Niger Delta for the increase in crude oil production and the drop in cases of crude oil thefts.

He insists the engagements of the military has always been according to global best practice.
