No fewer than four farmers at an Agric Settlement in Ipapo/Okaka area of Oke- Ogun have been reportedly kidnapped.TVC News learnt that the kidnappers were about ten in number and dressed in army camouflage with sophisticated weapons.
The farm settlement along Iseyin-Ipapo-Saki road has a collection of farmers that hired the land from the State Ministry of Agriculture for farming activities.
The four abducted farmhands were said to be working at a big poultry farm situated within the settlement.
The Chairman of the Farm Settlement Association Mr Adepoju, who confirmed the incidence said the search team were still in hot pursuit of the kidnappers towards the Okeho forest.
He said he could not say much until the search party returns from the forest.
Spokesperson of the Oyo state police command also confirmed the incidence.
According to him, The incident was reported to have happened along Ipapo/Okaka road under Itesiwaju LGA along Oke-Ogun axis at the early hours of Saturday 08/10/2022.
He said investigation is ongoing and updates would be provided accordingly.
This is the latest in the series of growing cases of abduction in several parts of Oyo State with the Oke-Ogun axis particularly a major source of concern for many observers and residents of the area.
This abduction follows the abduction of an indigene of Ogbomosho, Olugbenga Owolabi, and a student of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomosho, Rachael Opadele, and subsequent killing by still to be identified abductors earlier in the year.
The issue of insecurity has pitched stakeholders in Ogbomosho and some Other parts of the State against the State Government over what they termed as insincerity on the part of the government and failure to act despite information provided by the people.
The State Police Command has promised that the issue of abduction in the State will soon be a thing of the past.
Abductions in the State has also not left those in government and the Traditional institutions untouched with a former Chairman of a Local Government in the Oke Ogun area of the State the first government official abducted in 2020 after which Others have been abducted.
