More Than 260,000 Children Return To School In Sokoto

 

More than 260 000 out-of-school children in Sokoto state have been successfully returned to school as part of the World Bank-assisted Better Education Service Delivery for All project (BESDA).

The Universal Basic Education Commission’s (UBEC) national implementation adviser, Danjumma Adamu Dabo, led the BESDA implementation committee on a supervisory visit to Sokoto and paid a courtesy call to Governor Aminu Tambuwal at Government House.

According to available data, seven hundred and sixty-nine schools are online and have registered two hundred and sixty-four thousand seven hundred and eighty five students, far exceeding the targeted enrollment of one hundred and eighty seven thousand six hundred and eighty two.

Mr Dabo explained that the program has so far enrolled over 4000 people in non-formal learning centers, which is a remarkable achievement by the state government.
