The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has assured Nigerians that it has put measures in place to guarantee a safer motoring environment throughout the ember months and beyond.
Despite a projected increase human and vehicular traffic, the Agency is targeting zero fatality during 2022 ember months .
Road Traffic crashes are a regular occurrence in Nigeria especially during ember months .
The increased rate of road accidents is a source of worry to citizens , and Federal Road Safety Corps.
This is why the Agency is putting measures in place like special enforcement operations on unregistered motorcycles to enhance intelligence gathering and criminal investigations .
Since the commencement of this operation in August 2022, great achievements have been recorded .
The Road Management Agency has successfully arraigned thirteen thousand eight hundred and eighty one riders, (13,881) impounded over two thousand eight hundred and twenty three motorcycles, (2,823) and registered thirty six thousand eight hundred and eighty four motorcycles (36,884)
Acting Corp Marshal Dauda Ali Biu stated at a conference organised that criminal acts including kidnapping, banditry, and armed robbery have made it imperative to crack down on motorcyclists at this crucial juncture in national development.
From the start of the operation, one hundred and one thousand, eight hundred and fifty nine registrations have been uploaded into the National Vehicle Identification Scheme database.
The success, according to Biu was triggered by the aggressive public enlightenment , ongoing campaign on the importance of registered motorcycle to National security.
He also explained that; the corps will be enhancing patrol operations and ensuring massive deployment of personnel and logistics along major highways, in order to minimize road crashes.
