Residents of Omotosho in Okitipupa Local Government area of Ondo State have protested against the failure of the management of Omotosho power to provide electricity for them in the last twelve years.
Armed with placards with various inscriptions, the aggrieved people also took their protest to another company over alleged marginalisation and failure to pay royalty to them
For people privileged to have a multibillion naira energy project, the Omotosho Power Plant in their domain, it is surprising to see them live in perpetual darkness. This again forced them to march to the power plant to vent their anger.
The inscriptions on the placards in their hands tell the story of what they are passing through.
Solidarity songs flew freely from their mouths, as they besieged the Omotosho gas processing and transportation company, Omotosho Power plant, Niger Delta Power Holding among others. They also took their protest to seewood company and other industries in the area.
They accused the management of the company of marginalisation and failure to pay royalty to the community.
Representative of the company addressed them and promised to look into their grievances.
They hope that something drastic will be done to restore electricity to the community.
