President Muhammadu Buhari has called for a speedy passage of the Special Crimes Court bill by the National Assembly.
He spoke at the national summit on ‘‘Diminishing Corruption in the Public Service’’ organised by the Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related Offences Commission, ICPC.
The president said the bill is a ‘‘specific priority’’ of his administration’s Economic Recovery & Growth Plan 2017 to 2020.
A highpoint of the event was the presentation of Integrity Awards to Assistant Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Abubakar, and Josephine Ugwu of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria.
Mister Abubakar rejected 412,000 dollars per container bribe offered by drug traffickers, and Mrs Ugwu, a former airport cleaner returned monies on different occasions, including the sum of 12 million dollars.
