Navy trains more than 1,000 new recruits

Chief of Defence Staff, Abayomi Olonisakin, says the Nigerian Navy has been equipped to take on the complex security challenges facing the country.

He gave this reassurance during the passing out parade of more than One Thousand new recruits from the Nigerian Navy Basic Training School in Rivers State.

The Defense Chief was the special guest of honor at the historic ceremony at Nigerian Navy Basic Training School in Onne, Rivers State.

It marked the end to a 6-month rigorous training program for 997 male and 179 female personnel.

The grandaunts were trained on basic naval seamanship such as swimming and weapons handling.

They also received courses on civic military relations, inter agency cooperation and laws of armed conflict not leaving out emphasis on self-discipline and teamwork.

This batch 28 grandaunts will be deployed to various Nigerian Navy units and establishments nationwide where they will undergo further training and operations.
