Ayodeji Moradeyo reports that Agriculture used to be the mainstay of Nigeria’s economy, but the discovery of oil no doubt, affected agriculture, as many youths embraced white collar jobs.
The need to boost the agriculture sector and make youths show more interest in farming, necessitated the training for farmers. The training, which is the fourth in the series, was facilitated by a member of the House of Representatives, Afe Olowokere. The lawmaker urged government to provide incentives that would make farming more attractive to the youths.
The Acting Provost of the Federal College of Agriculture, Akure, Dele Adewale wants government to organise more trainings like this for young
farmers.
The training is expected to expose young farmers to modern day farming techniques.
