TVC N. The vice chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel has called for a ban of the full Muslim veil called Burka.
Daily Mail UK reports that the Merkel made the call on Tuesday, December 6, noting that ‘full veil is not appropriate’ in Germany a Christian country as she addressed a conference of her party CDU.
She also expressed her determination to prevent the influx of Muslim migrants into the state like the country witnessed in 2015.
“A situation like the one in the late summer of 2015 cannot, should not and must not be repeated. “That was and is our, and my, declared political aim,” she said.
Merkel’s position was a result of string of losses by her Christian Democratic Union party at state elections caused by her stand on migration into Germany from Middle east countries ravaged by war.
Daily Mail reports that Germany saw about 890,000 asylum-seekers arrive on its shores in 2015 after Merkel allowed migrants stuck in Hungary to enter into the central European country.
