French football icon, Zinedine Zidane, has reportedly agreed a deal to become the next head coach of the French national team, with his contract set to run until June 2030.
Transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano, disclosed the development in a post shared on Facebook on Tuesday, claiming the former Real Madrid manager would be officially unveiled in the coming days.
“Zinedine Zidane has signed as the new France coach until June 2030. The story has been confirmed as Zizou will be unveiled as the new head coach in the next days — back to work with France,” Romano wrote.

According to Romano, Zidane’s first major assignments with Les Bleus are expected to include the 2027 UEFA Nations League, the 2028 European Championship and the 2030 FIFA World Cup.
The Italian sports writer concluded his update with his popular confirmation phrase, “Here we go, confirmed.”
Zidane, 54, has been out of management since stepping down as Real Madrid coach in 2021 after his second spell at the Spanish club.
The Frenchman enjoyed a highly successful tenure at the Santiago Bernabéu, guiding Madrid to three consecutive UEFA Champions League titles from 2016 to 2018. He also won two La Liga titles alongside several domestic and international trophies.
A World Cup winner with France in 1998, Zidane has consistently been linked with the national team job and was regarded as the leading candidate to replace Didier Deschamps, who has been in charge of Les Bleus since 2012.
Deschamps’ future has been under scrutiny, with reports suggesting he could step down after the 2026 FIFA World Cup cycle.
However, as of the time of filing this report, the French Football Federation had not released an official statement confirming Zidane’s appointment.
