President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has paid tribute to Nigerian women for their resilience, strength and contributions to national development as the world marks International Women’s Day.

In a message commemorating the global event, the President celebrated the role of Nigerian women at home and abroad, describing them as pillars of families, communities and the nation’s progress.

Tinubu noted that across homes, farms, markets, offices and leadership spaces, Nigerian women continue to demonstrate courage and determination that help sustain the country.

He acknowledged their diverse roles as mothers, entrepreneurs, professionals and leaders who contribute meaningfully to shaping Nigeria’s future with resilience and dignity.

The President said Nigeria’s progress has always reflected the impact of women who refused to be limited by societal barriers, recalling the efforts of women who fought for democracy as well as those who work daily to support their families and communities.

According to him, their contributions to nation-building remain profound and indispensable.

Tinubu also stressed the responsibility of government and society to create opportunities that enable Nigerian women and girls to realise their full potential.

“Our duty as a government and as a society is to continue creating the conditions where every Nigerian girl can learn, every woman can thrive economically, and every voice can contribute to our national development,” he said.

The President added that the nation’s growth is closely tied to the advancement of women, noting that when Nigerian women rise, the country rises with them.

He concluded by honouring the strength, sacrifices and enduring role of women in Nigeria’s development, wishing them a happy International Women’s Day.
