Nigeria Reaffirms Commitment to Peace, Democracy, Sustainable Development in Africa

Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, has reaffirmed the country’s commitment to promoting peace, security, democratic governance and sustainable development across the African continent through stronger collaboration with the African Union (AU).

The minister stated this during a meeting with the African Union Commissioner for Political Affairs, Peace and Security, Ambassador Bankole Adeoye, on the sidelines of the African Union Executive Council Meeting, according to a statement posted on the official X handle of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, on Tuesday, July 28.

The statement said the meeting focused on strengthening cooperation between Nigeria and the African Union in advancing peace, security and democratic governance across the continent.

Odumegwu-Ojukwu reiterated Nigeria’s longstanding commitment to supporting the AU’s efforts to foster stability and sustainable development in Africa.

“Nigeria remains unwavering in its commitment to promoting peace, security, democratic governance and sustainable development across Africa through enhanced collaboration with the African Union,” the minister said.

The meeting formed part of engagements on the margins of the African Union Executive Council Meeting, where African leaders and senior officials are discussing key political, security and development issues affecting the continent.
