President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has joined family, friends, and well-wishers nationwide in celebrating former Head of State, General Yakubu Gowon, on the occasion of his 91st birthday.
In a statement marking the milestone, President Tinubu praised General Gowon for his patriotism, visionary leadership, and lasting contributions to Nigeria’s unity, peace, and development.
The President also acknowledged the former military ruler’s continued counsel on national matters, describing it as “invaluable to the growth and stability of the country.”

“On this special day, we pray that Almighty God grants General Gowon long life, good health, and renewed strength in his service to humanity and the nation,” President Tinubu said.
General Gowon, who led Nigeria from 1966 to 1975, remains a respected elder statesman and a key figure in the country’s political and historical landscape.
