The Senate has denied the Nigerian Customs Boss, Hameed Ali audience after he appeared before it not wearing the customs uniform as it had demanded
TVC News Dooshima Abu reports that the Customs boss is expected back at the Senate on Wednesday, March the 22nd.
Nigeria’s Customs boss finally appeared before the Senate after previous attempt failed.
He was smartly dressed in a white traditional attire instead of the customs uniform demanded by the legislators.
he was in the Senate to brief the Senate on the already suspended policy on duty payment.
But as soon as he settled in,the deputy Senate president sought to know why he wasn’t properly kitted in customs uniform.
The lawmakers displeased by his response, took turns to chide him, insist he was bound by law to wear his uniform
The customs boss ran into trouble with the senators when he initially refused to put on hold the cutoms’ newly introduced policy on duty payment as demanded by the Red chamber.
Relations only grew frostier when he failed to honour their earlier invitation on excuses they found flimsy
It was a gesture the senators did not take lightly.
The senators who were unanimous in their decision,asked Hameed Ali to leave the Red chamber and re appear before it ?on Wednesday, 22nd of March in full customs uniform.
