The Rivers State House of Assembly has screened and confirmed five out of the nine commissioner nominees submitted by Siminalayi Fubara, Governor of Rivers State.
During a televised plenary on Monday, lawmakers rejected four of the nominees, citing what they described as poor performance during the screening process and controversies surrounding their nominations.
The House subsequently resolved that the Speaker, Martins Amaewhule, should formally write to the governor requesting that only the five confirmed nominees be inaugurated as members of the State Executive Council.
