Three of the five lawmakers who won the August 16, 2025, bye-elections to the House of Representatives were inaugurated on Tuesday by Speaker Abbas Tajudeen at the resumption of plenary.

Two other elected representatives, Elegbeji Yetunde Ayoola (Ikenne/Remo, Ogun State) and Oyekunle Fola Sunday (Ibadan North, Oyo State), were absent.

The vacant seats arose due to the deaths of sitting lawmakers: Ekene Abubakar Adams (Chikun/Kajuru), Akeremi Olaide (Ibadan North), Oriyomi Onanuga (Ikenne/Remo), Isa Dogonyaro (Garki/Babura), and the resignation of Denis Idahosa, who left to contest the Deputy Governorship of Edo State.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by notable figures including former Edo State Deputy Governor Phillip Shuabu, Lady Cherry Igbenedion, and Samaila Abdullahi Yakawada, Chairman of the North West Development Commission.

Following the swearing-in, the House immediately moved into an executive session to address the ongoing leadership crisis in the minority caucus.
