President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has paid tribute to former Head of State, General Abdulsalami Abubakar (rtd), on his 83rd birthday.
In a statement, President Tinubu described General Abdulsalami as a patriotic leader who has rendered decades of service to Nigeria, both in uniform and in retirement.
He commended the former leader for guiding the country through a peaceful transition to democratic rule in 1999 — a key moment in the nation’s history — and for strengthening the principle of constitutional democracy.
President Tinubu also recognised General Abdulsalami’s ongoing role as Chairman of the National Peace Committee, where his statesmanship and voice of moderation have helped ease tensions and foster credible electoral processes across the country.
He called General Abdulsalami a man of unusual integrity and a role model for future generations of Nigerian leaders.
As the former Head of State marks another birthday, President Tinubu wished him continued strength, good health and divine grace in the years to come.
