Police operatives in Enugu State have recovered a MAN Diesel truck stolen in Benin City, Edo State, earlier on Monday, 27 October 2025.

The truck, reportedly stolen around 12:05 a.m., was recovered at about 6:30 a.m. at Ozalla, Nkanu West Local Government Area, along the Enugu–Port Harcourt Expressway.

The operation was carried out by officers attached to the Ozalla Division and the Distress Response Squad (DRS) following a distress alert from the Command’s Control Room that the stolen vehicle was heading towards the expressway.

On sighting the police, the suspects abandoned the vehicle and fled into the bush.

The command said its operatives have since launched a manhunt for the fleeing interstate criminal gang, while the recovered truck has been secured for further investigation.

Commissioner of Police, CP Mamman Bitrus Giwa, commended the officers for their swift and coordinated response, reaffirming the command’s commitment to proactive policing.

He urged residents to remain vigilant and promptly report any security-related information or criminal activity to the nearest police station, or through the command’s hotlines: 08032003702, 08086671202, or the State Command and Control Centre on 112, 09134666668, and 09134448093.
