The Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun approved payment of ₦24,144,997.49 to families of late Police officers who died in active service in Lagos State.
According to statement signed by SP Abimbola Adebisi, the Lagos Police Command Public Relations Officer, the money was presented to the families in cheques by the command’s Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh on behalf of the IG.
The statement reads, “Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Olohundare Jimoh, on behalf of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, has presented cheques worth Twenty-Four Million, One Hundred and Forty-Four Thousand, Nine Hundred and Ninety-Seven Naira, Forty-Nine Kobo (₦24,144,997.49) to twenty-two (22) families of Police Officers who died in active service.
“The presentation forms part of the Group Life Assurance and IGP Family Welfare Schemes of the Nigeria Police Force, designed to provide financial relief and sustained support to the families of officers who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.
“This gesture reflects the unwavering commitment of the 22nd Indigenous Inspector-General of Police, to the welfare and well-being of Police personnel and their families. It underscores his compassionate leadership, genuine concern, and steadfast resolve to ensure that the sacrifices of gallant officers are never forgotten, while offering comfort and stability to their dependents.”
