The Kebbi State Police Command has commenced investigation into a fatal incident that occurred in the early hours of Friday at Badariya area of Birnin Kebbi, resulting in the death of a 35-year-old man and the abduction of his wife.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bashir Usman, the victim, identified as Sufiyanu Garba, was attacked at his residence during the incident.

Police detectives who visited the scene immediately after the report commenced investigations to unravel the circumstances surrounding the attack.

Authorities noted that a police checkpoint is located not far from the scene, which could have been alerted for rapid response.

The victim was rushed to Sir Yahaya Memorial Hospital in Birnin Kebbi, where a medical doctor confirmed him dead and his remains have since been deposited at the hospital morgue.

The Kebbi State Commissioner of Police CP Umar Hadeija has directed the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) to take over the case to ensure a thorough investigation, with the aim of rescuing the abducted woman and apprehending those responsible for the crime.

The Command reassured residents that steps are being taken to strengthen security across the state.

It also urged members of the public to promptly report emergency situations to the police to enable swift response, stressing that timely information is critical in preventing such incidents.
