The Adamawa State Police Command has taken into custody Anas Dauda, a 32-year-old resident of Jalingo B area, Lamorde Ward in Mubi South LGA, for allegedly possessing a firearm unlawfully.
The arrest followed the circulation of a viral video on social media showing Dauda brandishing an AK-47 rifle with three loaded magazines.
In the footage, he made alarming threats and claimed he intended to sell or lease the weapon for a specified amount, sparking widespread fear among residents.
Authorities said the video was immediately reported to the Police Command, prompting a rapid response.

Police confirmed that Dauda was located and arrested in a secluded part of Mubi town. Investigations are ongoing, with a focus on recovering the firearm featured in the video and determining its origin.
The Commissioner of Police has instructed the Deputy Commissioner of Police overseeing the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Yola to take charge of the case, ensuring a discreet investigation and diligent prosecution.
Speaking on the matter, Police Public Relations Officer SP Suleiman Nguroje said the CP reassured the public of the Command’s commitment to maintaining security and warned that acts threatening public safety or violating the law would not be tolerated.
