The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has begun the distribution of empowerment materials to former cannabis farmers across Ondo State.

According to a statement cited by TVC News on the official website of the NDLEA on Sunday, members of the Ifon, Ilu-Abo, and Eleyowo communities were presented with bags of fertilisers and knapsack sprayers by the agency during the commencement of the distribution phase of the empowerment program.

The former cannabis farmers were presented with agricultural materials and experts on the ground to train them on the proper application of the items on Friday as part of the agency’s rehabilitation program.

The statement reads, “Members of Ifon, Ilu-Abo and Eleyowo communities are being presented with bags of fertilisers and knapsack sprayers by NDLEA officers at the commencement of the distribution phase of the empowerment materials to former illicit croppers with agricultural experts on the ground, teaching the farmers how to properly apply the fertilisers and use the sprayers on Friday, 13th March, 2026.”

This major success was disclosed in a statement signed on Sunday by the agency’s Director of Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, stating that the intelligence on the drug syndicates began on Tuesday, 26th August 2025, following the uncovering of 76 cartons of textile materials going to Sydney by officers of NDLEA at the export shed of the Lagos airport.
