Panic as gas gushes from pipeline on Lagos-Ibadan expressway

A leakage from a gas pipeline along the Lagos/Ibadan expressway has caused panic among residents around Arepo, Magboro Ogun State.

TVC News gathered that the leakage was due to excavation works by workers of Julius Berger working on the road.

The fault was detected around Coleman wire factory and not far from the head office of The Punch newspapers at Magboro, after the Long Bridge when coming from Ojodu-Berger.

The incident has now led to a standstill with no movement on both bounds of the Lagos/Ibadan expressway.

Residents are concerned that if the temperature increases further it could trigger an explosion.

A Julius Berger staff, who spoke with TVC News said the NNPC has been contacted a and they have shut down the supply from their substation.

LASEMA officials are currently at the location trying to bring the situation under control.
