The National Universities Commission has presented provisional licences to 6 new private universities.
The licenses were presented to various proprietors on Tuesday, at the National Universities Commission, Maitama-Abuja.
The Education Minister who was represented at the simple ceremony by the Ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Sunday Ochono explained that the approvals given were to help further ease access to tertiary education in Nigeria.
Amongst the universities given licenses were Admiralty University, Ibusa, Delta State Owned by the Naval Holding Company, Precious Cornerstone University, Ibadan, Oyo State and Spiritan University, Nneochi, Abia state.
Also approved are Atiba University Oyo, Oyo state, Eko university of Medical and Health Science, Lagos and PAMO University of Medical Science, Port Harcourt.
