A training to improve access to COVID-19 vaccines and social mobilization for vaccine uptake across five states is taking place in the capital city of Abuja.

The training by the Nigerian red cross society is expected to capture thirty volunteers across fifteen local government areas with low vaccination coverage.

Since Nigeria’s vaccination roll out campaign started in March 2021, the country has so far not reached its target of getting seventy percent of its population vaccinated even after one year.

Health authorities have put in place several measures to ensure that the challenges affecting vaccine uptake are greatly reduced.

NPHCDA so far Nigeria has so far fully vaccinated more than thirteen million eligible persons with a little over thirty three million doses of the COVID-19 vaccines administered.

The training by the Nigerian Red Cross Society is to help ensure that vaccine jabs get into more peoples arms through improving access by awareness creation and social mobilization across five states.

The NRCS says it is helping to work with communities to help with rumor management and grassroots education of communities on the importance of COVID 19 vaccination at it remains an important aspect of reducing the challenges that contribute to vaccine hesitancy.
