Nigeria joins list of countries to approve usage of Blockchain technology

Nigeria has joined the increasing list of countries across the world that have approved the usage of Blockchain technologies.

The institutionalisation of this kind of technology in Nigeria will increase talent development and provide more opportunities for innovations in the digital sector.

This was one of the approvals given at this week’s federal executive council meeting chaired by president Muhammadu Buhari the council chambers of the presidential villa in Abuja.

President Muhammadu Buhari’s Administration is exploring blockchain technology and leveraging the value it is projected to add to the global economy by 2030.

Nigeria now has a national blockchain strategy, which is part of President Buhari’s National Digital Economy strategy and Strategy, which was announced in November 2019.

The Minister of Communications and Digital Economy says this innovative development has been institutionalized and will be relevant in critical sectors to improve trust, transparency, and the traceability of data shared across business networks.

The Aviation sector again got approval for procuring more firefighting trucks, this time 5 units will be purchased for the cost of 7Billion Naira.

The Minister of Aviation says the Priority of the Government is the security and safety of Air Passengers, despite public outcry over the cost of previous contracts to purchase Firefighting vehicles in the country’s airports.

He also insists the long-awaited Nigeria Air will fly before the end of President Buhari’s administration.

The Federal Executive Council approved a Public Private Partnership contract for the Ministry of Transport to address the challenge of potable water at the Apapa and Tincan Island Ports in Lagos.

President Muhammadu Buhari left the country after this week’s federal Executive Council Meeting, He will join other world leaders invited to attend the coronation of Charles the III as King of the United Kingdom.

He will also attend a summit that will discuss the future of the commonwealth and the role of the youth.
