The national association of Nigeria nurses and midwives has given a fifteen day ultimatum to the Federal Government for an upward review of allowances or it will shut down services.
This announcement follows an emergency national executive meeting of the federal health institutions sector in Abuja, after a rejection of the recent circular on the review of allowances by the National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission.
NANNM is now demanding a two hundred percent upward review of salaries and allowances, stressing that the allowances listed on the rejected circular fail to address the dire conditions driving brain drain.
