Kogi State Government has evacuated indigenes of the state studying in Jos, Plateau State, following growing security concerns in the area.

This decision comes in the wake of a recent wave of violence, including an attack in the Angwan Rukuba community on Palm Sunday, which reportedly left at least 28 people dead and 22 others injured.

The University of Jos (UNIJOS) also postponed examination activities earlier scheduled for Monday and Tuesday following the attack on the Angwan Rukuba community in Jos North Local Government Area.

The Plateau State Government had earlier imposed a 48-hour curfew following the Sunday attack in the Gari Ya Waye community that left many dead and several others injured.

Tension was reported across parts of Jos and its environs, barely twenty-four hours after the state government relaxed the forty-eight-hour curfew imposed.

According to reports, the safety of the students could no longer be guaranteed amid escalating tensions.

In response, the Kogi State Government deployed buses to transport the students back to Kogi State as a precautionary measure.
