The Lagos State government has assured that no effort would be spared in ensuring the logical conclusion of cases filed in court against kidnap suspect, Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike also known as Evans. State Attorney general, Adeniji Kazeem disclosed this while briefing journalists to mark three years of Governor Akinwunmi Ambode in office.

Correspondent Adedoja Salam-Adeniyi reports that Evans case is one out of 1180 cases the Ministry of Justice through its Directorate of public prosecution received from the Nigerian police force.

Commissioner for Justice said the state government is not treating the Evans case with kid gloves.

Aside from other achievements recorded in several departments and agencies of law in the state, the issue of Domestic and sexual violence is top on the list.

Recently, the Governor walked against the menace and called for 25 years in imprisonment for Rape.

Kazeem said aside from this, the number of men who report domestic violence against them are also on the increase.

The DNA and forensic Centre has also helped a great deal to nip crime in the bud and bring offenders to justice since its inauguration in September 2017.

Under the prerogative of mercy, the attorney general said 40 inmates who had spent between 20 to 34 years in custody were released by Governor Ambode based on recommendation on prison decongestion
