The Jigawa State Government has disbursed over N1.543 billion as terminal benefits to 609 retirees across the state.

This payment is part of the State and Local Government Contributory Pension Scheme.

The beneficiaries include retirees who completed 35 years of service or reached the mandatory retirement age between August and December 2024.

According to Dr. Bilyaminu Shitu Aminu, Executive Secretary of the State and Local Government Contributory Pension Scheme, the payments were categorized into four groups:

Retirees who completed 35 years of service or reached 60 years of age

– Families of 103 deceased staff

– 39 retirees who passed away within five years of starting their monthly pensions

– Two individuals who contributed for less than five years, receiving N749,000 with a 15% interest

Dr. Aminu warned pensioners against fraudsters, emphasising that the Board’s services are free.

He noted that the Jigawa state government is committed to ensuring retirees’ well-being and delivering on its obligations.

This gesture is part of the government’s shared prosperity agenda, aiming to enhance service delivery and improve retirees’ lives after service.
