The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) says it has concluded critical arrangements for the forthcoming Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Area Council Polls, assuring residents of its preparedness to conduct a credible poll.
Briefing journalists in Abuja, the FCT Resident Electoral Commissioner, Aminu Kasimu Idris, outlined the commission’s logistics framework, security coordination and technology deployment plans ahead of the election.
According to him, INEC has wrapped up key pre-election activities, including an expanded stakeholders’ meeting attended by over 300 participants, among them political parties, traditional rulers, civil society organisations and security agencies.

The commission says the engagement was designed to deepen transparency and strengthen public confidence in the electoral process.
Sensitive election materials, including ballot papers and result sheets, have also been received at the Central Bank under strict security arrangements. INEC says the materials were inspected in the presence of party agents before being escorted to Area Council offices.
Registration Area Centres (RACs) are scheduled to be activated between 12 noon and 4 p.m., while the Bi-modal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) machines have been configured and tested for deployment across polling units.
INEC further confirmed that its Election Monitoring and Support Centre has been activated to enable real-time tracking of activities on election day.
The commission is urging eligible voters to verify their polling units and turn out peacefully to cast their ballots.
INEC maintains that the election will be guided by transparency, neutrality and professionalism.
