Governor of Kogi State, Usman Ododo, has presented a budget of over ₦820.49 billion for the 2026 fiscal year to the Kogi State Executive Council for consideration and approval.

Tagged, “Budget of Shared Prosperity: Driving Sustainable Growth for All,” the proposal represents a ₦215.96 billion (35.7%) increase over the revised 2025 budget.

Governor Ododo reiterated his administration’s commitment to inclusive development, economic expansion, and improved service delivery across all sectors.

According to the Commissioner for Finance, Budget and Economic Planning, Asiwaju Idris, the budget is anchored on fiscal strategies to strengthen revenue, consolidate reforms, and sustain growth.

“The budget comprises ₦470.01 billion recurrent revenue and ₦350.48 billion capital receipts. On the expenditure side, ₦360.67 billion is allocated for recurrent expenditure while ₦459.82 billion is proposed for capital expenditure, making the total outlay balanced at ₦820.49 billion,” he said.

He explained that recurrent spending covers personnel, overheads, and debt servicing, while capital expenditure targets infrastructure, health, education, agriculture, and social welfare projects.

Idris added that the plan focuses on boosting IGR, promoting PPPs, improving the ease of doing business, and cushioning the effects of subsidy removal through social protection, rural development, SME support, and alternative energy solutions.

He assured that the Ododo administration will maintain fiscal discipline, transparency, and accountability in implementing the budget to deliver shared prosperity for the people of Kogi State.
