Nigerian-British actress, Wunmi Mosaku, has secured a nomination in the Best Supporting Actress category for her role in Sinners, as the 98th Academy Awards, popularly known as the Oscars, are set to hold on Sunday.

Widely regarded by fans as the best film of 2025, the movie features powerful performances from Michael B. Jordan and Delroy Lindo, both of whom earned nominations for their roles in the same production.

Jordan was nominated in the Best Actor category, while Lindo was nominated in the Best Supporting Actor category.

Mosaku joins a star-studded field as Paul Thomas Anderson’s One Battle After Another and Ryan Coogler’s Sinners emerge as early front-runners for major awards.

Mosaku was nominated in the ‘Supporting Actress’ category for her role in Ryan Coogler’s ‘Sinners’ at the 2026 British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA).

After winning the award, the 39-year-old says she found parts of herself, saying, “I thought I had lost or tried to dim as an immigrant trying to fit in” as she took the best supporting actress prize for her role in the film Sinners.

The 39-year-old, who was born in Nigeria and grew up in Manchester, has drawn widespread acclaim for her role as Hoodoo priestess Annie in the musical horror film.

The ceremony is set for Sunday, March 15, 2026, with Conan O’Brien returning as host.
