FG sends Senior Security personnel on fact finding mission to Katsina

security challenges in the area.

The team is mandated to visit and assess the extent of the problem and come up with new strategies of approaching the security challenge.

Parts of KKatsina atsina state have been hit by brutal bandit attacks in recent times, an indication that more criminal gangs have relocated to its
environs

Correspondent Abdullatif Yusuf reports that the most recent killing of over 27 people in Batsari local government in Katsina state has brought to light, how serious the security challenges are

The state is still in mourning after a mass burial of the people killed by the bandits and special prayers for Divine intervention are still
being conducted in mosques

Batsari residents speaks out in particular, are aggrieved and want an immediate response to the daily attacks, which they say they can no longer bear

Most communities in Batsari are still not safe to visit with reports of random attacks still being carried out in that vicinity.

The visit of the security delegation led by major General Ahanotu is coming just a day after Governor Aminu Bello Masari presented the
situation report to president Muhammadu Buhari.

The leader of the delegation explained that the visit is deliberate on how to confront the situation and put an end to banditry and kidnapping in Katsina, once and for all.

The delegation is made up of the directors of operations of the air force, the Directorate of Security Serviced, the police and the military
intelligence unit.

Katsina state authorities are happy to welcome the delegation and Express hope that their response will put a check to a situation going out of hand. There is a fear among Katsina residents that major towns in the state may soon be attacked by the gangs of bandits and kidnappers

They also fear that if left unchecked the activities of the criminal gangs will seriously affect the farming activities as the farming season takes off.  The security delegation afterwards declined to speak on camera on the progress of their visit, for security reasons
