The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has announced the launch of a new cashless and contactless payment system across key revenue points at two of the country’s busiest airports.
In a statement FAAN said the initiative, tagged “Operation Go Cashless”, was developed in partnership with Paystack and will take effect from 29 September at Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, and Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.
“Effective September 29, 2025, all payments at FAAN revenue points, including airport access gates, car parks, and VIP and protocol lounges, will go cashless.
This means we will be phasing out cash collection at these points,” the agency said.
FAAN added that travellers and airport users will now enjoy faster and more seamless services through a secure, contactless payment option, which responds to growing demand for modern and transparent payment systems.
The authority said the move would improve efficiency, strengthen revenue assurance and enhance the overall customer experience, while aligning Nigeria’s airports with global digital standards.
FAAN also reaffirmed its commitment to continuous improvement, noting that the cashless policy would be gradually extended to other airports nationwide.
