The Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Sola Enikanolaiye, will receive the first batch of 268 Nigerians evacuated from South Africa at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, on Thursday morning.

The returnees are expected to arrive at about 5:00am aboard an Air Peace flight, escorted by Nigeria’s Acting High Commissioner in Pretoria, Ambassador Alexander Ajayi.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the reception underscores the Federal Government’s commitment to protecting Nigerians abroad and prioritising their welfare under its citizen-centred foreign policy.

The Ministry also announced that the ongoing screening of Nigerians in South Africa willing to return home due to xenophobic attacks has been extended until Sunday, 14 June, to accommodate more affected persons.
