ECOWAS loses two senior officials

The Economic Community of West Africa, ECOWAS, has lost two senior officers within its ranks.

The officials Prof Leopoldo Amado, ECOWAS Commissioner for Education, Culture, Science & Technology who  died in Dakar on Sunday after a brief illness, according to official sources.

The Professor who is from Guinea Bissau, joined ECOWAS in 2018 as one of the 15 Commissioners at the 15-nation regional economic bloc.

The cause of his death is unclear, but it follows the death on Jan 7th of the ECOWAS Commission’s Secretary General Dr. Nelson Magbabdeola in Abuja.

Dr. Magbagbeola, a Nigerian, will be buried this week.
