Vice President Kashim Shettima has facilitated Christians on Easter celebration, preaching hope, sacrifices and assuring them of “better days ahead” under the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, saying the present difficulties are temporary.

In his Easter message, signed by Stanley Nkwocha, the Senior Special Assistant on Media and Communications, Shettima restated the administration’s commitment to peace, economic recovery and long-term prosperity, noting that the path to national renewal often demands sacrifice and collective resolve.

The Vice President expressed optimism that the country will overcome its current economic and security challenges.

Reflecting on the significance of Easter and what it represents, VP Shettima said the Christian message of sacrifice, hope and resurrection reminds the nation that no period of hardship lasts forever.

According to him, Easter speaks to the triumph of hope over despair and light over darkness, noting that the lessons of the season are especially relevant to Nigeria’s current moment.

“Easter is a reminder that history often bends in favour of those who refuse to surrender to despair. It is the story of light piercing through darkness, of hope rising from the shadows of pain, and of faith prevailing over fear,” he said.

Senator Shettima expressed that though Nigeria has passed through difficult times, with the citizens enduring significant challenges, noting that the country has never been defined by adversity.

“I remain confident that by our collective will, shared sacrifice, and abiding faith in the promise of this nation, we shall triumph over whatever challenges beset us momentarily,” he said.

The Vice President called on Nigerians to remain united and continue to support the ongoing reforms of the Tinubu administration, stressing that national progress requires patience, endurance and a shared sense of purpose.

He further urged citizens to reject division and embrace the values that bind them together as one people, maintaining that Nigeria’s diversity remains one of its greatest strengths.

In a related development, the Governor of Delta State, Sheriff Oborevwori, also extended warm Easter greetings to Christians across Delta State and Nigeria, urging them to remain steadfast in their faith and committed to the teachings of Jesus Christ.

Governor Oborevwori, in a statement signed by Chief Press Secretary, Festus Ahon, emphasised that Easter represents a season of hope, sacrifice, and renewal, reminding believers of the triumph of light over darkness and life over death through the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

He called on Christians to draw inspiration from the virtues of love, humility, perseverance, and selflessness exemplified by Jesus Christ, noting that such values are essential for building a more united, peaceful, and prosperous society.

Oborevwori said, “This sacred season reminds us of the ultimate sacrifice of Jesus Christ, His triumphant resurrection, and the eternal hope it brings to humanity.

“As we commemorate the resurrection of our Lord, let us also renew our commitment to building a state and a nation where peace, justice, and brotherhood prevail.

“May the joy and hope of Easter fill your hearts and homes. Let us pray for continued peace, prosperity, and divine guidance for our beloved state and our great nation, Nigeria.

The Governor reassured residents of the state that his administration is committed to improving the living conditions of citizens and making life more meaningful for all.
