COVID-19: England to introduce new quarantine system Dec. 15

England will introduce a new quarantine system on December 15th for passengers arriving from high-risk countries.

This will allow them take a COVID-19 test after five days of quarantine and be released from isolation if they test negative.

It’s expected the private tests would take between one to two days to be processed, cutting the self-isolation period from 14 days to a maximum of seven.

UK transport secretary Grant Shapps said the government had “consulted very extensively with medical experts” and it believed a shorter quarantine period would be sufficient to avoid the spread of COVID-19.

The testing scheme will apply to passengers arriving from countries not on the government’s safe travel list, including France, Italy and Spain.
