The Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (CITN) has urged legal practitioners to stay up to date on the country’s taxation regulations.
Adesina Adedayo, President of the CITN, stated this at the opening ceremony of the CITN’s four-day conversion program for legal practitioners in Lagos.
He stated that by the end of the four-day training program, the participants would be eligible to join the CITN’s growing list of professionals on the roll call.
“Undoubtedly, for any individual to be considered a professional, such a person must be certified and well acquainted with the intricacies and principles of that profession.
“It is for this reason that the council of the CITN has prescribed this training programme as a prerequisite for admitting legal practitioners into the membership of the institute,” he said.

According to Yetunde Suleiman, assistant director of the CITN Tax Academy, the program was created with the objective of the Academy being to increase the competence of tax professionals in Nigeria through current tax education.
She noted that the event signaled the beginning of a new journey and their transition into becoming certified tax professionals of the institute.
