Benue Commission Of Inquiry Orders Officials To Appear In August

The chairman of the Benue state judicial commission of inquiry, investigating income and expenditure from 2015 to 2023 when former Governor Samuel Ortom governed the state, has ordered the accountant general, ministry of finance, bureau for internal affairs and that of local government administration and their chairmen to appear before it on August 14 with records of receipt and expenditure.

Parties and legal representative lead by the solicitor general and

permanent secretary, ministry of Justice, at the inaugural sitting of

the commission of inquiry instituted in February 2024 to probe income and expenditure during the administration of former governor Samuel Ortom between 2015 to 2023.

Members of the commission led by Justice Taiwo Taiwo arrived for the inaugural sitting, with an order mandating office of the account

general and other MDAs to furnish it will all records, as the accountant general accepted to comply .

The solicitor general and permanent secretary, ministry of Justice and

the Nigerian Bar Association at the end of the sitting says, justice

must be served in the use of state treasury by government officials to

ensure better life for the society.

With the order restraining the commission of inquiry from probing the income and expenditure of former governor Samuel Ortom,  set aside, the commission says it is not out to witch hunt any individual or corporate entity.
