Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and former Lawmaker, Ben Murray -Bruce, have praised the Military for the successful rescue of the 360 captives from the Mandara mountains in Borno State.

Both Atiku Abubakar and Murray -Bruce gave the commendation in statements on their X handles.

Mr Ben Murray-Bruce  went further by  praising the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu.

Mr Murray-Bruce described the operation as a “remarkable achievement,” noting that it reflects the effectiveness of ongoing security reforms under Ribadu’s leadership.

He said the rescue demonstrates the strength of intelligence-led operations, strategic coordination, and a sustained commitment to national security.

According to him, the ability to secure the freedom of hundreds of captives without undue publicity underscores the kind of result-oriented leadership Nigerians expect from their security institutions.

He further commended Ribadu for bringing renewed professionalism and focus to Nigeria’s security architecture, adding that the operation sends a strong signal that terrorist groups can be confronted and ultimately defeated through persistence and collaboration among security agencies.

 

The former lawmaker also extended appreciation to the military high command and frontline troops, acknowledging their sacrifices in safeguarding the nation.

He said Nigeria is safer because of their efforts and expressed national pride in what he described as an outstanding accomplishment.

For his part, Mr Atiku Abubakar, said the rescue of the Borno 360 is a good development.

He called on the Federal government to intensify efforts to free the Oriire school children and teachers in Oyo State.

He also called for a rejig of the nation’s security architecture with emphasis on technology, intelligence driven operations and preemptive actions

He called for proper equipment for all branches of the armed forces and the security establishment.

He expressed confidence that the armed forces are up to the task if properly equipped.
