The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has extended the ongoing collection of the Permanent Voter Card (PVC) in Anambra State to November 2, giving eligible voters additional time to obtain their cards ahead of the upcoming governorship election.

Mrs. Victoria Eta-Messi, INEC’s Director of Voter Education and Publicity in the state, disclosed the development in a statement on Monday in Awka.

“The INEC has approved the extension of the ongoing collection of PVC in Anambra from Oct. 29 to Nov. 2,” she said.

She explained that the decision was made at a commission meeting held on October 27, “following several appeals from citizens and stakeholders requesting additional time to enable eligible voters to collect their cards.”

Mrs. Eta-Messi urged registered voters who are yet to collect their PVCs to make use of the extended period at the designated collection centres across the state’s 326 Registration Areas (Wards).

She added that the exercise includes individuals who registered during the recent Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) in Anambra, emphasizing that “the collection of the PVCs must be in person, as no collection by proxy would be allowed.”

The state is set to hold its governorship election on November 8.
