Nigeria’s Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Abubakar Kyari, has emerged as Chairman of the 49th Governing Council of the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD). The election took place in Rome, Italy.

The development places Nigeria in a key leadership position within the global agricultural and food security space, as IFAD continues to drive efforts aimed at rural development and poverty reduction across developing countries.
