Six bills passed by Sokoto state house of Assembly have been assented to by the state Governor, Ahmad Aliyu including the bill for a law to further amend the Sokoto state local government law of 2008 that has generated mixed reactions across the country.
Shortly after signing the bills the governor said his administration had no intention to witch-hunt any individual or group of persons but rather working to ensure all the laws operational in the state complies with the provision of the nation’s constitution.
The governor attributed the tensions and reactions the process of amending the law had attracted to the handiwork of unscrupulous politicians who are out to score cheap political goals.
He also appeals to religious leaders to continue to pray for the success of the state and always be mindful of the antics of politicians who will want to use them to achieve their political gains.
