The Senate has observed a Minute Silence in honour of the 42nd Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Moshood Olalekan Balogun Ali Okunmade II.
The 81-year-old Ibadan traditional ruler died on the 14th of March 2024 days after marking his second year coronation anniversary and he has since been buried according to Islamic rites.
The upper legislative chamber acknowledged his immense contributions to nation building especially during his time as a member of the Nigerian Senate .
The Senate resolved to immortalise the late Olubadan Oba Olalekan Balogun for his contributions and legacy to the country by naming one of the its meeting rooms after him.
The Senate also resolved to send a delegation to commiserate with the monarchs family and traditional rulers and also visit the incoming Olubadan of Ibadan, High Chief Owolabi Olakulehin, as well as the Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo state.
