Zamfara state Government has commenced the payment of thirteen years backlog of Gratuity, retirement and death benefits for Zamfara workers amounting to over thirteen billion naira.
Chairman of the authentication Committee Mohammed Abubakar says this backlog as a result of neglect by previous administration.
The retired civil servants are full of joy and gratitude to Governor Dauda Lawal’s administration for rekindling their hope.
Governor Dauda Lawal had a few months ago set up a nine man committee to validate and authenticate data of retirees data owed by the previous governments since 2011.
Chairman of the authentication committee who doubles as the permanent secretary, Ministry of finance says the payment of gratuities and death benefits has commenced.
He says the committee will continue to do it’s best and assures of fairness to all.
Some of the beneficiaries thanked the Governor for giving attention to the plight of retirees
The state Government through the authentication committee appealed to the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the money for the growth and development of their families.
