The Ministry of Humanitarian affairs and poverty alleviation has announced a temporary suspension of the Npower programme in order to investigate the activities of the project in the last 1 year especially to find out of the people engaged in the project were reporting to their places of assignment.
A statement signed by Akindele Egbuwalo, the National Programme Manager, NPower also alleged that some people who have exited the programme were still under the payroll of the Federal Government, hence the need for a thorough audit.
He assures those with genuine claims of their payment once verification is completed.
He also announced that plans are underway for an expanded project that will accommodate new programmes in education, health, works, Agriculture, technology, fashion, entertainment, and other areas of skills acquisition and employability.
The statement also assures Nigerians of accountability and transparency in the expanded project.
