Oyo Communal Clash: Governor Makinde asks Oyo residents to embrace peaceful coexistence

Governor of Oyo state Seyi Makinde says residents must learn to live in peace and harmony without hate or prejudice against one another.

He stated this when he visited Iganna town to assess the situation over a clash between two groups in a community.

Iganna is a town located along Oke-Ogun axis in Iwajowa local Government of Oyo state.

The settlement which comprises of different ethnic groups have coexisted peacefully, until recently when a clash broke out between the Fulani extraction and the Yoruba communities.

The clash led to loss of lives and destruction of property but for the swift intervention of security agencies, the situation was quickly brought under control.

Following this incident, Governor of Oyo state, Seyi Makinde alongside top officials of security agencies visited the town to assess the situation and asked them to sheathe their swords and embrace peace.

The Governor also met with the people and leaders in the communities and told them to make room for cordial relationship with foreigners in the town.

He also promised to bring more Government presence to the community by providing them with more basic amenities.
